The Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde has fielded Avinash Rane as its candidate against Sana Malik, daughter of Nawab Malik, in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.
NCP leader Nawab Malik’s daughter Sana Malik has filed her nomination papers from the Anushakti Nagar assembly constituency in Mumbai as a candidate of the Ajit Pawar -led NCP.
Running a candidate against Malik’s daughter Sana, who is contesting on an Ajit Pawar -led NCP ticket, is viewed as a rift within the ruling Mahayuti alliance.
Earlier, the BJP issued strong criticism of Nawab Malik’s candidacy, a prominent leader from Ajit Pawar ‘s faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), who received party support at the last minute for the Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar seat.
Malik, currently under scrutiny in an alleged money laundering case tied to mafia don Dawood Ibrahim and associates Chhota Shakeel and Tiger Memon, filed two nominations-one under the NCP and the other as an Independent. Following party endorsement, he declared himself the official candidate.
