Discussions on social media have been triggered by the teaser for the movie Jahangir National University (JNU) being released.
The earlier poster for the film, which is based on a contentious plot, has sparked even more debate. The poster shows a raised hand that represents the struggle for common people’s rights, clenched in the hands of red hands that represent the triumph of socialist philosophy. Furthermore, there are banners flying in the background with the phrases Jai Shri Ram and Lal Salaam, signifying the total domination of Marxist ideology in the campus.
The new poster hints at escalating controversy. The poster shows some books are burning, and the punchline says, “Can one university shake the nation?” This isn’t the first time the film Jahangir National University has courted attention; its previous two posters also garnered significant media coverage.
Producer Pratima Datta says “Jahangir National University, our film, is ready to be released. Film, in my opinion, is the best medium, and this movie is based on a significant section of our society that needs to be revealed to the public. A lot has changed since we last encountered these difficulties, so on June 21st, it will be released in theatres. We were able to make it happen because of the support we received from the entire cast, crew, and a few industry people.”
While talking to the media, director Vinay Sharma says, “Our film, Jahangir National University, talks about one of the most sensitive issues that needs to be discussed. Through this film, I am sure an open discussion will start throughout the country, and in real sense, it will be the biggest return gift of my honest hard work that I put into the making of this film”
Produced under the banner of Mahakal Movies Private Limited, Jahangir National University is produced by Pratima Datta and directed by Vinay Sharma. The film features talented actors such as Urvashi Rautela, Piyush Mishra, Ravi Kishan, Siddharth Bodke, Vijay Raj, Rashmi Desai, Atul Pandey, and Shivjyoti Rajput. It is scheduled to hit theatres on June 21, 2024.
