Chandramukhi 2, the pan-India film starring Kangana Ranaut and Raghava Lawrence in the lead roles, had a theatrical release last month.
After a below-average box office run, it is all set for its OTT premiere. The horror-comedy, directed by P Vasu, will arrive on streaming platform Netflix on Thursday, October 26.
P Vasu also directed the 2005 film Chandramukhi, and its sequel which released on September 28. Chandramukhi, which starred Jyothika and Rajinikanth in the lead roles, was a box office success. Chandramukhi was remade 2 years later in Hindi as Bhool Bhulaiyya, starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. Priyadarshan had directed the Hindi remake.
It must be noted that Kangana and Raghav Lawrence’s Chandramukhi 2 is releasing on OTT within a month of its theatrical release. It released in theatres on September 28 and clashed with titles like The Vaccine War,Fukrey 3 and Skanda at the box office. Chandramukhi 2 ended up earning ₹37.2 crore nett in all languages.
Like its theatrical release, Chandramukhi 2 will be available on OTT in 5 languages – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Meanwhile, Raghava Lawrence’s upcoming release is Jigarthanda Double X,
which is a sequel to Karthik Subbaraj’s 2014 film Jigarthanda.On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for her next release Tejas, which will hit the big screens a day after Chandramukhi 2’s OTT premiere. Tejas tells the story of an IAF officer named Tejas Gill (played by Kangana Ranaut) and aims to capture the struggles and glory of the Indian Air Force and the officers’ lives.
