Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan recently spoke to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressing concern about an incident at a theatre in Guwahati ahead of Pathaan’s release.
A day after his ‘who is Shah Rukh Khan’ remark, the CM took to his official Twitter account and informed that the actor called him at 2 am.
“Bollywood actor Shri @iamsrk called me and we talked today morning at 2 am. He expressed concern about an incident in Guwahati during screening of his film. I assured him that it’s the duty of state govt to maintain law and order. We’ll enquire and ensure no such untoward incidents,” he tweeted.
According to a report in NDTV, Bajrang Dal activists entered a theatre at Narengi in the city on Friday where Pathaan is slated to be screened. They tore down its posters, and burnt them.
Shah Rukh’s Pathaan is facing backlash for showing lead actress Deepika Padukone in a saffron bikini in the song ‘Besharam Rang’. Many political leaders have demanded a ban on the film.

Meanwhile, addressing the media on Saturday in connection with the protest, the CM had said, “Who is Shah Rukh Khan? I don’t know anything about him or his film Pathaan.”
“Khan has not called me, though many from Bollywood do so, regarding the problem. But if he does, I will look into the matter. Action will be taken if law and order has been violated and a case has been filed,” he added.
According to several media reports, when reporters told him that Khan is a Bollywood superstar, the CM said that the people of the state should be concerned about Assamese and not Hindi films.
Pathaan to release on January 25
Pathaan is one of the most anticipated films. Touted as one of the biggest ever action spectacle that audiences will see in theatres, the film is part of Aditya Chopra’s ambitious spy universe.
The trailer of Pathaan was dropped on January 10 and within no time, it became one of the most viewed videos online. It features John Abraham as the lead antagonist of the story and he will be seen packing some serious punches with Shah Rukh. The film also stars Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana.
