India’s official entry to the Oscars is playing in cinemas now

India’s official entry to the Oscars, Last Film Show (Chhello Show), is now playing in cinemas, having opened to positive reactions in theatres across India. Before its nationwide release, the makers hosted a star-studded premiere for the Pan Nalin directorial in Mumbai. The event was hosted by Last Film Show producers Siddharth Roy Kapur and Dheer Momaya along with director Pan Nalin and the entire cast and crew.

The premiere turned into a grand affair as it was attended by Deepika Padukone, Kiara Advani, Vidya Balan, Mira Nair, Aditya Roy Kapur, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Sunny Kaushal, Sharvari Wagh, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Babil Khan, Kirti Kulhari, Rasika Dugal, Jaaved Jaaferi, Prateik Babbar, Aparshakti Khurana, Vikramaditya Motwane, Nikkhil Advani, Chitrangada Singh, Ramesh Taurani, Madhur Bhandarkar, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Mahima Makwana, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Anushka Ranjan, Ashutosh Gowariker, Ranveer Allahbadia, Parmeet Sethi, Rajat Barmecha, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Namit Das, Mayur Puri, Amrita Puri, Pashmina Roshan, Rohit Saraf, Sandhya Mridul, Soham Majumdar, and many others.

The celebrities were deeply moved by the film’s storytelling, emotions, and performances. Following the screening, they feted it with a standing ovation that went on for a long time, and many later took to social media to rave about the cinematic gem and send their wishes for the 95th Academy Awards. Particular praise has gone to child star Bhavin Rabari’s performance and the power, simplicity, and rootedness of director Pan Nalin’s vision. The entire Indian film industry is gunning for Last Film Show (Chhello Show) as it continues its theatrical run, followed by its Oscar campaign that is set to begin soon.

Last Film Show is produced by Roy Kapur Films, Jugaad Motion Pictures, Monsoon Films and Chhello Show LLP. In a first-of-its-kind release, the movie opened on Thursday night on 95 screens across India at a ticket price of just ₹95.

The film will also release in the U.S., France, Japan, and Italy.
