It’s a proud moment for all Indians as the country’s official Oscar selection Last Film Show (Chhello Show) finally releases in theatres. The film is an authentic and heartful tribute to the magic and power of cinema. In an ingenious nod to its selection to the 95th Academy Awards , the movie showed on 95 screens across India last night for the “last film show” at a ticket price of ₹95!

From its world premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York to being named India’s official entry to the Best International Feature Film category at the 2023 Academy Awards, Last Film Show has been steadfast in its mission of putting Indian cinema and Indian culture on the map. And now, audiences across India have the opportunity to show their support for the country by watching the film at their nearest theatres! The Gujarati-language coming-of-age drama has already been lauded by the biggest names in the Indian film industry and beyond. Based on director Pan Nalin’s own childhood memories, it is an organic and emotionally charged drama set in the midst of films, food, family and friends. The film is a true celebration of the Indian spirit and richly deserves the audience’s love and support.

Producers Siddharth Roy Kapur and Dheer Momaya, and director Pan Nalin said in a joint statement “What began as a mere dream for us has now culminated in a movement across the world. We are grateful for all the love our movie Last Film Show (Chhello Show) has been receiving as it represents the best of Indian culture, innovation, and enterprise. It tells the story of a small boy who overcomes incredible odds to fulfil his dream – a loving metaphor for the ethos of striving that characterises this great nation. With the film finally releasing in India, we urge audiences to watch the film with their families in the theatres and support our journey as we begin our campaign to represent India at the 2023 Oscars!”
